| Can you join us on October 27th at 6pm for a webinar to learn about Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in Massachusetts? |
| Despite federal headwinds, Massachusetts has been making progress on adding renewable energy to our grid. Residential and utility scale solar installations continue to rise, and in April, Gov. Healey activated a contract with the newly fully operational Vineyard Wind offshore wind project, saving ratepayers $1.4 billion over the next 20 years.
As we reach a 100% renewable energy grid, what happens when the sun stops shining and the wind stops blowing? That’s where energy storage comes in. Energy storage can store cheap excess energy from times when the sun is bright and the wind is fierce and discharge that energy during peak times when we need it the most On October 27 at 6pm, we’re hosting a webinar about one type of utility scale energy storage: Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) that are popping up across the Commonwealth. We’ll talk about some of the benefits of having BESS on our grid, ways that communities can benefit from good siting and host community agreements, and some of the safety conversations we’ve heard popping up. |
